Centers

This week we are continuing with many holiday projects. Today, for centers we worked on number recognition and counting with marshmallows on gingerbread houses. We worked on patterning by painting candy canes, which will turn into a very cute project when we are finished, and on their own they did some holiday graphing. They worked very hard today!

Fun Holiday Crafts!

This week we have been doing lots of fun holiday crafts. The students really enjoyed coloring their gingerbread boy or girl and making their gingerbread houses! Our sound this week is /r/ and we made a Rudolph out of the letter R. They turned out very cute!

We have been practicing putting the letters in our name in order as well as saying the letter names. Today, the students did this using Christmas lights, and put them on a piece of string. They turned out cute!

Tasting Party

Today we had a tasting party! They tried butter puffcorn, skittles, sour patch kids and salt & vinegar chips. Many of them enjoyed the butter puffcorn and skittles; they weren't so sure about the sour patch kids or chips!

The skittles were a hit!

They weren't so sure about the sour patch kids!

Trevor loved the salt and vinegar chips!

Kaydance did not like them.

Sense of Smell!

Today we talked about our sense of smell. We talked about things that smell good such as flowers and apple pie and also things that don't smell so good such as a skunk or garbage. First, the children closed their eyes as I had them smell different items. I brought around cinnamon, garlic powder, mints and a lily air freshener. They liked the smell of cinnamon the best and most of them didn't care for the garlic powder!

Emmalyn did not like the garlic powder!

Destanie enjoyed the cinnamon!

Today we talked about our sense of touch. They split into groups and took turns reaching into a bag to feel what was inside. There was four different items for them to touch. After they finished, we made a list of words to describe how the things felt!
